Industrial Robots Market Overview

The global industrial robots market size was valued at around USD 17.2 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of growth (CAGR) of around 7.3% from 2022 to 2032.The market size is projected to succeed in USD 42.2 billion by 2032.

The global industrial robotics market is expected to witness significant growth in the coming years, driven by the increasing adoption of automation in various industries. The automotive, electronics, and healthcare industries are expected to be the major drivers of growth.

The growing demand for industrial robots is being fueled by several factors, including the rising need for increased productivity, improved quality control, and reduced labor costs. Additionally, the development of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, is making industrial robots more versatile and capable of performing a wider range of tasks.

Industrial robots are programmable machines used for automating manufacturing processes in industries and are capable of movement on three or more axes.  These effectively reduce high and tiring efforts of producing & manufacturing consumer goods and work with high endurance, speed, and precision.

Some applications where robots are employed include welding, painting, assembly, disassembly, pick and place for printed circuit boards, packaging and labeling, material handling palletizing, product inspection, testing and other core operations in industries.

They offer benefits, including cost reduction, increased rate of operation, size reduction, improving quality, along with improved manufacturing efficiency and flexibility.

In the year 2020, an estimated 1.64 million industrial robots were in operation worldwide according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). The emphasis of present research and development is on activities such as automatic assembly, automatic scheduling, visual guidance, and recovery of errors among others.

The global industrial robots’ market is expected to grow at a CAGR ranging from 7.3% during the next ten years.

Industrial Robots Market Drivers

The growth of this market is attributed towards major relying factors including; the current global transition from manual to automation systems , the surging labor charges worldwide, the rising penetration of collaborative robots in various industries, the growing emphasis upon improvement of productivity of high volume production lines, the rising awareness regarding the benefits of robots in the end-use industries, the high demand of robotics products in industrial application especially in manufacturing sectors, the growing investment of automotive industry in technological advancement, the growing adoption of robotics in small & medium size organizations because of their decreasing costs and the rising number of government restrictions on handling toxic materials and goods etc.

Additionally, the costs of employing and training manual workers and their replacements account to huge allocation of funds in all industry verticals. Alongside, the inconveniences associated with providing benefits such as promotions, health and safety compensation and insurances, benefit packages, increasing wages on a yearly basis, and paid leaves is also endless. With that said, it is difficult for workers to work in harsh or inhospitable environments and have lower satisfaction in carrying out repetitive tasks in comparison to robots which have far lower restrictions. This factor alone is comprehensively contributing immensely to the global industrial robot’s market.

Moreover, the technological advancements such as infusing of robots with integrated vision and touch and human features such as intelligence, flexibility, memory, learning ability, and objects recognition enhance the efficiency and speed of delivery systems which help in achieving several benefits such as reduction in overhead costs, increase in productivity, waste reduction, and flexibility. This is majorly propelling the demand for robotic systems across various end-use industries and thereby contributing to the overall market expansion robustly.

Furthermore, other factors such as the globally increasing manufacturing requirements, the growing global competition in industrial production, the economic growth across regions, the growth of e-commerce and end-use industries such as automotive and electronics, the rising adoption of robotics in the non-automotive sector are fueling the growth of industrial robot’s market size. Alongside, the rising adoption of smart factory system, the emergence of Industry 4.0 industrial revolution and the advent of numerous sorts of techniques committed to production control will further propel the market growth in the future years.

However, the high cost of industrial robotics solutions, the complex regulatory framework, concerns associated with safety of operators primarily in collaborative robots which work alongside human personnel and the interoperability and integration issues with industrial robots restrain the growth of this market.
