In blood donation process, blood is collected as whole blood, and later it is separated into various components by a process called apheresis. The drawn blood volume varies, and its amount should not be more than 1% of the donor's bodyweight. This collection is done with automated equipment that collects only specific components of blood, or blood can also be collected manually.
