Seed treatment or seed dressing, in agriculture and horticulture is a process of applying physical, chemical or biological compounds or agents to seeds prior to or during planting, in order to suppress, control or repel damages caused by pathogens, insects, and pests that attack seeds or plants. These are a more environment friendly way of using pesticides as the amounts used can be very small.

Seed treatment is used as additives in colorant, carriers, binders, antifoam agents, lubricants, and micronutrients. These are used in different concentrations according to the requirements and have several applications in the agricultural industry such as insecticides, fungicides and bio-control.

By providing protection from pre- and post-emergent insects and diseases across a variety of soil types and environmental conditions, seed treatment improves the yield of crops, reduces germination time, and enhances overall productivity. In December 2020, Advanced Biological Marketing announced their newest product launch for the seed treatment industry – GroFlo. The GroFlo product, which will be available in early 2021, reportedly brings together all the benefits of a colorant and polymer with the addition of nutrients to get seeds off to a great start.
