Brief Overview

Serial device servers are networking devices that are used between the Ethernet LAN (local area network) and the COM port (serial port of the computer) for data transfer. The serial device servers are also known as port redirectors to convert a serial device to an Ethernet device that can be used on a network. The serial device server is a flexible device that can be connected simply without authentication or security to a serial device in the network or these devices can be configured in a multitude of features similar to Ethernet switches and routers. The serial device server can be connected to printers, robotic assemblage, medical devices, sensors, and other devices. These device servers are currently offered in a broad spectrum of configurations that meet the end-user requirement, using single and multiple-port functionalities.
